David Levy (also: David Levi ) (born December 21 , 1937 ) is an Israeli politician. A construction worker originally, he was born in Morocco and made Aliyah to Israel in 1957 . A member of the Knesset since 1969 , he is currently a member of the Likud party. He used to belong to the small Gesher Party. Levy holds a moderate right agenda. Levy has a long recorded history of quitting from governments and coalitions (both Likud 's coalitions and Israeli Labor Party 's coalitions). This, and his bad English, made Levy a subject for many popular and folklore jokes in Israel.1He has held numerous ministerial positions including: Minister of Immigrant Absorption, Minister of Housing and Construction, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Without Portfolio.2He was the foreign minister of Israel from 1990-1992, 1996-1998 and 1999-2000. He lives in Beit Shean, Israel and has 12 children.3
