In his youth he joined “HeHalutz” Movement and “Freiheit-Dror” which was affiliated with the “Poelei Tsion” Party. In 1934 began working in the Jewish Agency Member of the Secretariat of the Jerusalem Branch of Mapai from 1938 Secretary of the Jerusalem Branch of Mapai from 1943 Delegate to the Fourth Assembly of Representatives In 1948 was elected Secretary of the Jerusalem Workers Council Member of the Jerusalem City Council 1955-1959 Elected as member of Knesset five consecutive times.
