Who is Hasan Piker?

Hasan Piker (Hasan Doğan Piker, born July 25, 1991) is a Turkish-American political streamer who broadcasts as HasanAbi on Twitch (twitch.tv/hasanabi) and posts as @hasanthehun on X. He is the nephew of The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur. His channel is one of the largest on Twitch, ranked 21st with 43,994 active subscribers in September 2026.

In 2026 the U.S. House resolution H.Res. 1239 named him for antisemitic rhetoric and support for Hamas, the United Kingdom barred him from entering the country, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called his remarks about American Jews "dangerous, malicious and antisemitic," and a $150 million lawsuit accused him of inciting violence against Jews. He has said Hamas is "a thousand times better" than Israel and named Hezbollah's as his favorite flag. Twitch has suspended him seven times since 2019, for about twenty days in total.

Part One

Hasan Piker, named by the United States Congress

On April 30, 2026, a bipartisan resolution was introduced in the House of Representatives condemning antisemitic rhetoric from online personalities. It named two people. One of them is Twitch's top political streamer.

119th Congress, 2nd Session
H. RES. 1239
Condemning antisemitic hate-filled rhetoric and content disseminated by prominent online personalities, and urging social media platforms and public leaders to denounce and address such conduct.

Whereas Hasan Piker, a prominent online streamer, has often used antisemitic rhetoric, including expressing support for Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization;

Whereas, in August 2019, during a stream on Twitch, Hasan Piker stated that “America deserved 9/11”;

Whereas Hasan Piker referred to Orthodox Jews as “inbred”;

Whereas Hasan Piker downplayed sexual violence committed by Hamas against innocent civilians on October 7, 2023, stating, “It doesn't matter if f-ing rapes happened on October 7th, like that doesn't change the dynamic for me”;

Whereas Hasan Piker has expressed support for Hamas on multiple occasions, including on April 14, 2026, stating, “Hamas over Israel every single time”

If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are so singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone's going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews.

In the same breath he calls Israel "basically Jewish ISIS." This clip is the centerpiece of the $150 million lawsuit against him.

Every suspension Hasan has ever received, to scale against a 30-day ban. Dates from the StreamerBans public tracker. His last two: one ran Friday to Monday, the other began on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and ended on Memorial Day.

Part Six

Twitch wrote the rule. He breaks it on camera.

In November 2024, under pressure from Congress, Twitch added "Zionist" to its hateful conduct policy. It even gave an example of what is banned.

Hateful Conduct Policy

"Zionist" as a proxy for Jews

"We treat 'Zionists' as a proxy for Jews or Israelis if the word is used in a context to promote harm or violence, or when used to make dehumanizing comparisons or perpetuate antisemitic stereotypes."

Allowed: "Zionist settlers keep encroaching Palestinian borders"
Not allowed: "Zionist [name of animal]"

What was said

"Rabid ultra-Zionist pigs"

Hasan Piker, January 29, 2026. Suspended 3 days, Friday to Monday.

"You fucking bloodthirsty violent pig dog"

Hasan Piker, October 2023. "I stand by this." No suspension.

"zionist pig dogs"

His chat, October 8, 2023. Left up by his moderators. Rule broken. Rule unenforced.

He read the rule out loud. Then he broke it.

Three days after Twitch published it, Hasan explained the rule to his own audience. Nobody can claim he did not know.

ClipHe knewNov 18, 2024

Part Seven

Twitch, Israel and the man at the top

"There is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, including antisemitism and Islamophobia."

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, November 1, 2024

"It's hard to sit there and talk for six hours straight and not step over the line."

Dan Clancy, March 2025, after Hasan's one-day ban for "kill Rick Scott"

For a full year after October 7, Israelis could not sign up for Twitch. From October 2023 to October 21, 2024, account registration from Israel was shut off. Israelis who wrote to Twitch Support had their tickets closed without explanation. A streamer publicly flagged it in May 2024. Nothing changed.

Twitch reopened sign-ups within days of it becoming a news story, and called the year-long lockout an "unacceptable miss."

The answer to Rep. Ritchie Torres's letter naming Hasan was not action against the channel. It was a blog post and a new content label so viewers could filter out "Politics and Sensitive Social Issues."

Part Eight

The audience Hasan Piker built

Years of "resistance" talk on the biggest political channel on Twitch do not stay on Twitch.

Convicted of terrorism · 100 years

Benjamin Song

On July 4, 2025, an armed cell attacked the Prairieland ICE Detention Center in Texas. Song shot an Alvarado police officer. A federal jury convicted him of attempted murder and providing material support to terrorists; he was sentenced to 100 years. According to Fox News Digital, he posted on X as @BubbleBreakBS. In 2021 he wrote to Hasan:

BubbleBreak
@BubbleBreakBS
@hasanthehun Hasan send me guns. The one I want is only $1,500. I will forgive you. Arm the proletariat.
Aug 20, 2021 · 535 likesView on X

When chat raised Song's sentence, Hasan's answer on stream: people get prosecuted when a cop is shot "even if it's an act of self defense by the person who shot the cop," and the long sentences were "not appropriate." Clip in Part Two.

The "waiting room"

Denims

Streamer Alexandra Saber, one of Hasan's most prominent defenders, read Osama bin Laden's "Letter to America" on Twitch in November 2023. A federal complaint quotes her on that broadcast: "America deserved 9/11. I can't disavow facts man." and "[Bin Laden's] criticisms of the United States are all correct." Twitch's response: a one-day ban.

She sat on the TwitchCon panel that ranked streamers down to "Loves Sabra" in front of Chevron, Samsung and Capcom logos. Chevron complained publicly.

Asked and answered

Hasan Piker: the questions people search

What is Hasan Piker's Twitch username?

Hasan Piker streams on Twitch as HasanAbi, at twitch.tv/hasanabi. On X (Twitter) he posts as @hasanthehun, and his YouTube channel is also HasanAbi.

Why is Hasan Piker called HasanAbi?

"Abi" is Turkish for "big brother." Hasan Piker was born in New Jersey to Turkish parents and grew up largely in Istanbul and Ankara, and HasanAbi has been his Twitch name since he started streaming in March 2018.

Is Hasan Piker related to Cenk Uygur?

Yes. Cenk Uygur, founder of The Young Turks, is Hasan Piker's uncle. Piker started at The Young Turks as an intern in 2013. In June 2026 the United Kingdom barred both men from entering the country.

Why was Hasan Piker banned from the UK?

On June 1, 2026, the UK Home Office cancelled Hasan Piker's travel permit, saying his presence "may not be conducive to the public good." He had been due to speak at SXSW London and the Oxford Union. Jewish groups had urged the government to bar him over antisemitic rhetoric weeks earlier.

How many times has Hasan Piker been banned on Twitch?

Seven. Twitch has suspended Hasan Piker seven times since 2019, for about twenty days in total, and never for longer than seven days. The three most recent: one day in March 2025 for saying Republicans "would kill Rick Scott," one day in May 2025 for broadcasting the manifesto of the man who murdered two Israeli embassy staffers, and three days in January 2026 for calling people "rabid ultra-Zionist pigs."

Why was Hasan Piker banned on Twitch?

His most recent Twitch suspension, on January 29, 2026, followed him calling defenders of a federal watchlist "rabid ultra-Zionist pigs," a phrase that matches Twitch's own example of banned hateful conduct, "Zionist [name of animal]." Earlier bans followed "kill Rick Scott" (March 2025), "improper handling of terrorist propaganda" after he broadcast the DC embassy killer's manifesto (May 2025), and the slur "cracker" (December 2021).

Does Hasan Piker support Hamas?

In his own words, yes. In January 2026, Hasan Piker posted that "hamas is a thousand times better than the fascist settler colonial apartheid state." Asked on Pod Save America in April 2026 whether he meant it, he said: "I do mean it. I'm a lesser evil voter and therefore I would vote for Hamas over Israel every single time." Congress cited both lines in H.Res. 1239.

What did Hasan Piker say about October 7?

On October 29, 2023, Hasan Piker said on stream: "October 7 was a retaliation for an ongoing apartheid. Okay. That's it." On another stream he asked "What rapes did fucking Hamas do?" and H.Res. 1239 quotes him saying "It doesn't matter if f-ing rapes happened on October 7th, like that doesn't change the dynamic for me."

What did Hasan Piker say about 9/11?

During a Twitch stream in August 2019, Hasan Piker said "America deserved 9/11." The line is quoted in the 2026 congressional resolution H.Res. 1239, which condemns his antisemitic rhetoric.

What did Hasan Piker say about American Jews?

On August 20, 2026, Hasan Piker said: "If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are so singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone's going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews." In the same breath he called Israel "basically Jewish ISIS." House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the remarks "dangerous, malicious and antisemitic."

What did Hasan Piker say about Israel?

On September 6, 2024, Hasan Piker said Israel would become "a nation entirely comprised of messianic inbred ultra orthodox psychopaths with a nuclear arsenal." He has called settlers "the Jewish KKK brigades" and "inbred hicks," and in August 2026 called Israel "basically Jewish ISIS."

What did Hasan Piker say about Hezbollah?

Asked his favorite flag on the Fear& podcast in June 2025, Hasan Piker named Hezbollah's: "It's got an AK on it and a fucking hand holding it up." On an April 2024 stream he said of Hezbollah, "As a resistance group they're pretty successful against Israel. I don't have an issue with them."

Is Hasan Piker antisemitic?

The U.S. House resolution H.Res. 1239 names Hasan Piker for antisemitic rhetoric, including calling Orthodox Jews "inbred." House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called his August 2026 remarks about American Jews "dangerous, malicious and antisemitic." The ADL and AJC have both published dossiers on him, and StopAntisemitism named him a 2024 "Antisemite of the Year" finalist.

Why is Hasan Piker being sued?

On September 10, 2026, attorney Larry Klayman filed a lawsuit against Hasan Piker in Palm Beach County Circuit Court seeking more than $150 million, alleging reckless endangerment, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress over Piker's August 20, 2026 remarks that "someone's going to come around and take action" against American Jews.

Is the word "Zionist" banned on Twitch?

Not as a political term. Since November 2024 Twitch treats "Zionist" as a proxy for Jews or Israelis when it is used to dehumanize, and gives "Zionist [name of animal]" as an example of banned speech. Hasan Piker explained the rule to his own audience on November 18, 2024, then called people "rabid ultra-Zionist pigs" on January 29, 2026.

How many subscribers does Hasan Piker have on Twitch?

HasanAbi had 43,994 active Twitch subscribers in September 2026, 16,534 of them paid and 11,138 gifted, according to TwitchTracker, ranking the channel 21st on all of Twitch.

How this was checked

Video. Each clip was transcribed from its own audio with Whisper, and every quote on this page matches that transcript. Contested words were re-run through the larger model. Clips that could not be confirmed word for word were left out.

Chat. Raw IRC logs for #hasanabi from the public archive at logs.ivr.fi, with Twitch's own message IDs, subscriber badges and moderation events (CLEARCHAT, CLEARMSG). A message counts as acted on if it was deleted, or its author was timed out or banned within fifteen minutes. Every message shown was read by hand; quotations of antisemites and condemnations of antisemitism were excluded. Messages Twitch's AutoMod held back never reach the log, so everything on the left was visible to the channel.

Long streams. Candidate moments were found by searching machine transcripts of 2,803 of his streams (transcripts.omnibased.xyz), then cut from the original VOD and checked against the audio. A hit where he was reading someone else's words was dropped.

Posts. Fetched from X by post ID. Suspensions. StreamerBans, cross-checked against news coverage of each ban.
