The Afula bus suicide bombing was carried out on 6 April 1994, at a bus stop next to an Egged bus in the center of Afula, Israel. Eight Israeli civilians were killed in the attack and 55 were injured. Hamas and PIJ claimed responsibility for the attack. This was the first of the Palestinian suicide attacks to be carried out by Palestinian militants against Israeli civilians in Israel,[i] and was carried out in retaliation for the killing by a settler of 29 Muslims1 while they were at prayer in the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron on 25 February.

The Afula bus suicide bombing killed eight Israeli civilians and injured 55 on 6 April 1994, the first Palestinian suicide bombing against Israeli civilians. Through 2010 the opening said the attack was carried out in retaliation for the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre carried out by Baruch Goldstein. Today's opening still notes a retaliatory motive but names neither Goldstein nor the massacre, describing only "the killing by a settler of 29 Muslims"; the word massacre survives five times elsewhere in the article. A reader today does not learn that the event which prompted this bombing was named, and catalogued, as a massacre.
