Amazon's Safe Space for Antisemitism

For a year after October 7, Israelis could not even sign up. Its biggest political streamer calls people “Zionist pigs” and says he would vote for Hamas “every single time.” A Twitch engineer has moderated his chat for five years. Pro-Israel viewers get banned for life in 6 seconds. And Amazon cashes the checks.

Part One

Who runs Twitch, and what they did

Twitch is not a scrappy startup. It is a division of one of the richest companies on earth, Three of the names below were named in a letter from Congress.

Amazon founder and executive chairman

Jeff Bezos

Founder and executive chairman of Amazon, which bought Twitch in August 2014 for about $970 million. Twitch takes a cut of every subscription and ad on every channel on this page.

Twitch answers to his company.

Amazon CEO

Andy Jassy

Named on Rep. Ritchie Torres's October 29, 2024 letter: “If the KKK or the Third Reich were a social media platform, it would be Twitch.”

Amazon VP, Audio, Twitch & Games

Steve Boom

The Amazon executive Twitch reported to when the letter landed. Also named on it: “Twitch not only enables antisemitism, it emboldens it.”

Twitch CEO

Dan Clancy

November 1, 2024: “There is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, including antisemitism.”

March 2025, after Hasan's one-day ban for saying Republicans “would kill Rick Scott”: “It's hard to sit there and talk for six hours straight and not step over the line.”

His answer to Congress was a blog post and a content label so viewers could filter out “Politics and Sensitive Social Issues.”

Twitch Senior Software Engineer

Aiden Wallis

Creator of Fossabot, the moderation bot that runs in Hasan Piker's chat. And a moderator of that chat himself, posting with a Twitch Staff badge and a moderator badge side by side from May 2020 to December 2025: 18,637 messages.

The chat where 96% of the “Zionist pig” and “long live Hamas” messages stay up.

Part Two

Twitch staff and Hasan's mods, in their own words

Straight from the chat logs, badges as Twitch drew them. The purple wrench is Twitch Staff. The green sword is a moderator, the people who decide who gets banned.

One rulebook, two sentences

Twitch says it has one rulebook. Here is what it did to everyone else, and what it did to Hasan.

Every suspension he has ever gotten, drawn to scale against one 30-day ban. His last two were a long weekend and Memorial Day.

Part Four

Twitch wrote the rule. He breaks it on camera.

In November 2024, under pressure from Congress, Twitch added "Zionist" to its hateful conduct policy. It even gave an example of what is banned.

Hateful Conduct Policy

"Zionist" as a proxy for Jews

"We treat 'Zionists' as a proxy for Jews or Israelis if the word is used in a context to promote harm or violence, or when used to make dehumanizing comparisons or perpetuate antisemitic stereotypes."

Allowed: "Zionist settlers keep encroaching Palestinian borders"
Not allowed: "Zionist [name of animal]"

What was said

"Rabid ultra-Zionist pigs"

Hasan Piker, January 29, 2026. Suspended 3 days, Friday to Monday.

"You fucking bloodthirsty violent pig dog"

Hasan Piker, October 2023. "I stand by this." No suspension.

"zionist pig dogs"

His chat, October 8, 2023. Left up by his moderators. Rule broken. Rule unenforced.

He read the rule out loud. Then he broke it.

Three days after Twitch published it, Hasan explained the rule to his own audience. Nobody can claim he did not know.

ClipHasan Piker explains Twitch's ruleNov 18, 2024

Then: "It's a clear cut caving into capitulation to outside organizations, but you know, it is what it is."

He blames the ADL for the rule and keeps the channel.

Part Five

Twitch locked out Israel for a year

"There is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, including antisemitism and Islamophobia."

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, November 1, 2024

"It's hard to sit there and talk for six hours straight and not step over the line."

Dan Clancy, March 2025, after Hasan's one-day ban for "kill Rick Scott"

For a full year after October 7, Israelis could not sign up for Twitch. From October 2023 to October 21, 2024, account registration from Israel was shut off. Israelis who wrote to Twitch Support had their tickets closed without explanation. A streamer publicly flagged it in May 2024. Nothing changed.

Twitch reopened sign-ups within days of it becoming a news story, and called the year-long lockout an "unacceptable miss."

The answer to Rep. Ritchie Torres's letter naming Hasan was not action against the channel. It was a blog post and a new content label so viewers could filter out "Politics and Sensitive Social Issues."

Who Twitch protects

The channels that break the rules and keep the partnership.

Part Seven

Twitch will not enforce its rules. Make it cost them.

Twitch moved only when Congress wrote letters and advertisers made calls. It is owned by Amazon. Every lever below is public, legal and effective.

Call your representative

Ask them to cosponsor H.Res. 1239 and to demand Twitch explain, in writing, why its hateful conduct rules do not apply to Hasan Piker.

I'm a constituent. I'm asking the Representative to cosponsor H.Res. 1239 and to demand that Twitch and Amazon explain why Hasan Piker keeps his channel after calling people "Zionist pigs," broadcasting a terrorist's manifesto, and saying Republicans "would kill Rick Scott." The evidence is at ilroot.com/twitch.

Call your senators

Ask for a Commerce Committee hearing on Twitch's enforcement record, with the comparison table on this page as Exhibit A.

I'm a constituent. Twitch, owned by Amazon, banned a Jewish creator for 30 days for re-airing Hasan Piker's own clips while giving Piker one day for broadcasting the DC embassy killer's manifesto. I'm asking the Senator to call for a hearing on Twitch's enforcement. Evidence: ilroot.com/twitch.

Tell the advertisers

When an ad runs on his channel, screenshot it with the stream visible and send it to the brand's customer or press contact. Brands pay Twitch to be next to this. Chevron already complained once.

Your ad ran on Twitch's HasanAbi channel. On camera he has called Israel "a nation entirely comprised of messianic inbred ultra orthodox psychopaths" and said Hezbollah's is his favorite flag. His moderators ban people for posting an Israeli flag and leave up "zionist pig dogs." Do you want your brand there? ilroot.com/twitch

Report under Twitch's own rule

Report the channel with the timestamp and quote the policy back to them: "Zionist [name of animal]" is not allowed. Make them put the refusal in writing.

Questions

Twitch and antisemitism: questions

Who owns Twitch?

Amazon. It bought Twitch in August 2014 for about $970 million and runs it as a subsidiary. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon and is its executive chairman; Andy Jassy is its CEO. Twitch's CEO is Dan Clancy.

Is Twitch antisemitic?

Judge it by the record. Twitch locked Israelis out of account sign-ups for a year after October 7. Its biggest political streamer called Israel “a nation entirely comprised of messianic inbred ultra orthodox psychopaths” and kept his channel. In his chat since October 7, 96% of the “Zionist pig” and “long live Hamas” messages were left up, while 421 pro-Israel viewers were banned for life. A member of Congress wrote to Twitch and Amazon: “If the KKK or the Third Reich were a social media platform, it would be Twitch.”

Did Twitch block Israel?

Yes. From October 2023 to October 21, 2024, account registration from Israel was shut off. Twitch reopened it days after the story broke and called the year-long lockout an “unacceptable miss.”

Is “Zionist” banned on Twitch?

Since November 2024, Twitch's hateful conduct policy treats “Zionist” as a proxy for Jews or Israelis when used to dehumanize or promote harm. Its own example of what is not allowed is “Zionist [name of animal].” Hasan Piker called people “rabid ultra-Zionist pigs” in January 2026 and got three days, Friday to Monday.

Why hasn't Twitch banned Hasan Piker?

Twitch has never said. Every suspension he has had lasted a week or less, and the last two covered a long weekend and Memorial Day. Twitch gave Ethan Klein 30 days for re-airing Hasan's own clips. A senior Twitch software engineer has held a moderator badge in Hasan's chat since 2020.

Who is Dan Clancy?

Twitch's CEO since March 2023. In November 2024 he wrote that there is “no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, including antisemitism.” After Hasan's one-day ban for saying Republicans “would kill Rick Scott,” Clancy's comment was: “It's hard to sit there and talk for six hours straight and not step over the line.”

Is there Twitch staff in Hasan Piker's chat?

Yes. Aiden Wallis, a senior software engineer at Twitch and the creator of the Fossabot moderation bot, posted in #hasanabi with both a Twitch Staff badge and a moderator badge from May 2020 to December 2025, 18,637 messages in all. Since October 7, 104 accounts with the Twitch Staff badge have posted in his chat.

How do I report Twitch to Congress or Amazon?

Call your representative and ask them to cosponsor H.Res. 1239 and demand Twitch and Amazon explain their enforcement in writing. Write to Amazon Investor Relations. Screenshot ads that run on the channel and send them to the brand. Scripts are on this page.

How this was checked

Chat. Every per-stream chat log of #hasanabi, 992 streams and 137,500,365 messages since October 7, 2023, with the badges Twitch attached to each message. Staff, moderator and VIP badges are shown as logged. Counts use only messages that dehumanize Zionists (“Zionist pig,” “zionazi”) or chant for Hamas, Hezbollah or the intifada; a message counts as acted on if its author was timed out or banned within fifteen minutes.
