The 2004 IDF outpost bombing attack was an integrated attack carried out on 12 December 2004 by a Palestinian militant squad of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam military wing of Hamas and the Fatah Hawks (a military wing of Fatah) at an Israel Defense Forces outpost located on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Five Bedouin IDF soldiers from the Desert Patrol Battalion were killed in the attack and six others were injured, and the outpost was destroyed. Two Palestinian militants were also killed during the attack.

Through 2015 the opening called it an integrated terrorist attack carried out on 12 December 2004 by a Palestinian militant squad. Today the same sentence calls it an integrated attack, and the word terrorist is gone from the opening's description of the attack, though terror survives twice in the body. A reader arriving now learns who carried out the attack and not that the opening's own words once classified it as a terrorist attack.
