Israel Eldad was the chief ideological strategist of Lehi, the Jewish paramilitary group known as the Stern Gang. Through 2010 the opening described Lehi as "a militant Jewish paramilitary group ( the Stern gang )." Today the opening calls it only "the Jewish underground group Lehi," militant surviving once in the body but not the opening. A reader arriving now learns Lehi was an underground group and not that it was a militant paramilitary force.
