Al-Sīrah al-Nabawiyyah ( السيرة النبوية ) 'The Life of the Prophet'; is a biography of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad . According to Islamic tradition the work was written by Ibn Hisham who received it from Al-Bakka'i who received it from Ibn Ishaq . It is officially recognized as the first book on Prophetic biography (Sirah). That is why Ibn Ishaq is called the father of Sirah literature.1 Ibn Hisham also published a further revised version of the book, under the same title Al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah .
