David Avnir

David Avnir (born 1947) is an Israeli professor of chemistry at Hebrew University where he also got his education. He was awarded Israel Chemical Society Prize in 2011 and was a head of the Institute of Chemistry. As of 2013 he have over 360 peer-reviewed articles in print which were cited over 22,808 times and have an h-index of 69. After ending his duties as head of the Institute of Chemistry he took a position of the head of the Authority for Graduate Students in the Experimental Sciences. From 13 October 2014 he leads the laboratory of the ITMO University , where he works in the field of sol-gel materials for biochemical engineering and semiconductor technology. Co-founder of the International Sol-Gel Society and its first chairman of the board.
