From 1974 to 1979 he was principal of the University College of Buckingham, now the University of Buckingham . Max Beloff was the oldest child of a gifted Jewish family. He was made a Life peer with the title Baron Beloff , of Wolvercote in the County of Oxfordshire in 1981.1
