The Tribe of Gad settled east of the River Jordan in the land of Gilead . Gad was one of the 10 tribes that made up the northern kingdom after the 12 tribe nation had split into 2 kingdoms. The northern kingdom was called Israel , and the southern called Judah . Eventually the northern kingdom was sent into captivity, and then they are said to have disappeared. v t e1
