Zarnuqa ( Arabic language : زرنوقة ) was a Palestinian Arab village in the District of Ramla .1In 1924, the land was sold by Shukri brothers, and Abd al-Rahman al-Taji al-Farouqi. It was depopulated during the 1948 Palestine War on May 27, 1948 by the Givati Brigade of Operation Barak . It was located 10 km southwest of Ramla . Zarnuqa was mostly destroyed with the exception of a few houses. In 1945 the village had a population of 2,620. However, 240 inhabitants were Jewish. The village had two elementary schools: an elementary school for boys which was founded in 1924, and in 1945 it had an enrollment of 252 boys; and one for girls which was founded in 1943, and in 1945 it had an enrollment of 45 girls.2
