A Palestinian suicide bombing on a pedestrian mall in Tel Aviv in January 2002 injured at least 24 civilians. As late as October 6, 2023, the opening called Islamic Jihad "the Islamist Palestinian militant organization" that claimed responsibility. Today's opening calls it only "the Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad," dropping "Islamist" entirely, and the word appears nowhere in the article. A reader today learns Islamic Jihad's name but not that Wikipedia described it, through the day before October 7, 2023, as an Islamist organization, or that the bombing was called a terrorist attack.
