Just Journalism is a UK -based “research organization focused on how Israel and Middle East issues are reported in the UK media" The media watchdog was founded by a group of young professionals with backgrounds in the media, law, public relations, and academia, and the organization is funded by private individuals. Using publicly available regulatory frameworks that include BBC editorial guidelines, OFCOM guidelines and the Press Complaints Commission code of practice, and the National Union of Journalists Code of Conduct, it seeks to highlight violations of the principles of journalistic ethics such as lack of factual accuracy, lack of impartiality, improper use or lack of sources, lack of balance, and the use of biased language. Sharif Nashashibi , the founder of Arab Media Watch , criticized Just Journalism in The Guardian following an analysis by their chief executive, Elizabeth Jay, of British media coverage of the 2009 Israeli elections. He said that Jay had failed to meet the organization's aims of promoting accurate reporting by cherry picking quotes and highlighting "only those alleged omissions and misrepresentations that negatively impact on Israel".
