Ruth Dayan (born 1917) is the ex-wife of Israeli military hero and Defense Minister, General Moshe Dayan who died in 1981. She was born in Haifa and her family name was Schwartz. Ruth's sister, Reuma, was married to Ezer Weizman the Israeli air force general, Defense minister and President. Dayan was married to Moshe from 1935-1971, when they were divorced after his numerous affairs with women became intolerable. During their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Dayan resided primarily in Nahalal, and later Zahala, Israel. Dayan created an Israeli and worldwide sensation with her tell all book 'Or Did I Dream The Dream? The Story of Ruth Dayan' coauthored with Helga Dudman in 1973, which became a best-seller, primarily due to one of the chapters giving a description of her husband's sex life. Dayan has stated "Moshe had such bad taste in women."1
