She was the first trained nurse in Palestine . Schwester Selma trained as a nurse at Heinrich Heine Hospital in Hamburg , Germany . She and a colleague were the first Jews to sit for the German nursing exams. After her immigration to Palestine in December 1916, she established Shaare Zedek's School of Nursing. Schwester Selma wrote "My Life and Experiences at Shaare Zedek." She died at the age of 100.
