Susan Abulhawa is an American -based author of Palestinian descent. Her parents were displaced by the 1967 Six Day War and she grew up in Kuwait, Jordan, occupied East Jerusalem and the United States. After being educated at the University of South Carolina , she pursued a successful career in medical science. Feeling and believing the plight of Palestinians within the Middle East could not be ignored, she then dedicated her time writing novels and articles concerning the Israel and Palestine conflict, in doing so she became an academic advocate of Palestinian rights and a critic of Israeli policies.1
