Zaki Nusseibeh

He has held this post for over four decades, serving the founder of the UAE Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in this capacity from 1968 until his death in 2004. Born in Jerusalem and educated in Jerusalem and the United Kingdom before settling in Abu Dhabi, Zaki Nusseibeh began his career there as a journalist in 1967 and worked for the newly established Government of Abu Dhabi Civil Service Department. He then became Director of Information in the Abu Dhabi then the UAE Ministry of Information and Tourism [1] . In this capacity he edited the first English newspaper to be published by the Abu Dhabi Government and participated in establishing its first Arabic newspaper. He also worked as a broadcaster and program producer and helped in developing Abu Dhabi’s Broadcasting and media services. Nusseibeh was Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority [2] . Nusseibeh graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Masters degree in Economics. He has published translations of Gulf and Arab poetry into several European languages.

Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh (1946 - ) has been active in government service and interpreter for the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 1968. Nusseibeh graduated from the Cambridge University with a Masters degree in Economics. He settled in Abu Dhabi in 1967 and worked as a journalist and broadcaster before becoming Director of Information. He is Advisor at the Presidential Ministry of the UAE, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, Member the Council of Administration of the Paris Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi, and chairs many cultural bodies including the Alliance Française, the Classical Music Committee and the Wagner Friendship Society.

Before his current role, Nusseibeh served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2021), where he contributed to the establishment and management of the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy, as a coordinating body committed to international cooperation through cross-cultural dialogue and exchange through the promotion of UAE arts and culture abroad. He previously served as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Cultural Advisor at the UAE Presidential Court, later Ministry of Presidential Affairs. From the late 1960s, he acted as the personal interpreter and adviser to the founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan .
