Albert Einstein College of Medicine is a medical school in Bronx , New York .1 It is part of Yeshiva University , and began classes on September 12 , 1955 . The first class, in 1955, had 56 students; the medical school currently admits about 180 students per year. There is also a graduate school, and a combined M.D./Ph.D. Combined with postgraduate students, enrollment (as of 2002 ) is more than 800. One of its most famous graduates is former Vermont governor and 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean . Through its affiliation network, Einstein runs the largest post-graduate medical training program in the US, offering some 150 residency programs to more than 2,500 physicians in training.
