Fatima

Fatima Zahra also called Fatemeh Al Zahraa or Az-Zahra ( ) was the daughter of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad . She was born in Mecca , Arabia about 606 and died in Medina in 632 . She was said to have been Muhammad's favorite (and according to some sources, his only) daughter. Some Muslims consider her to be the "Chief of the Women" in Paradise . She has also often been considered a role model for Muslim women (see Ali Shariati 's Fatemeh is Fatemeh ). Fatima married Ali ibn Abi Talib (1st according to Shia Muslims), who later became the fourth Caliph . The couple had three sons, Al Hasan , Al Husein , and Al Muhsin , Muhsin is believed to have been died before his birth (in the womb) due to an injury on Fatima. Mohammad prophesied that the Mahdi would be descended from Fatima.

Fatimah ( ; fāṭimah ; pronounced /ˈfɑːtˤɪma/ ; c. 605 or 615 –632) was a daughter of the Islamic prophet Muhammad from his first wife Khadijah bint Khuwaylid . She is regarded by Muslims as an exemplar for men and women. She remained at her father's side through the difficulties suffered by him at the hands of the Quraysh of Mecca . After migration to Medina , she married Ali ibn Abi Talib , Muhammad's cousin, and was mother to four of his children. She died a few months after her father, and was buried in Jannat Al-Baqi' in the city of Medina, although the exact location of her grave is unknown. Most Shias believe that she was injured when defending Ali against the first Caliphate , and that this incident led to her early death. She seems to have performed only three acts of political significance, each recorded in almost all sources, both Sunni and Shia, though in different versions. First, after the conquest of Mecca she refused her protection to Abu Sufyan ibn Harb ; second, after the death of Muhammad she defended Ali's cause, opposed the election of Abu Bakr , and had violent disputes with him and particularly with Umar ; third, she laid claim to the property rights of her father and challenged Abu Bakr 's categorical refusal to cede them, particularly Fadak and a share in the produce of Khaybar . Fāṭimah bint Muḥammad ( / ˈ f æ t ə m ə , ˈ f ɑː t iː ˌ m ɑː / ; Fāṭimah ; born c. 605 or 615 – died 28 August 632) is the youngest daughter of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and Khadijah , wife of Ali and mother of Hasan and Hussein , and one of the members of Ahl al-Bayt . She is the object of great veneration, love, and respect by all Muslims as she lived closest to her father (prophet Muhammad) and supported him in his difficulties, is the supporter and loving caretaker of her husband and children, and is the only member of Muhammad's family that gave him descendants, numerously spread through the Islamic world and known as Sayyids . The 11th century dynasty ruling Egypt at the time of the Crusades, the Fatimids , claimed descent from Fatimah.
