Kanal 7 is a Turkish television channel with documented links to Islamist political parties, including the ruling Justice and Development Party. Through 2015 the opening stated, "It is an Islamic/Islamist channel with links to Islamist parties including the current Justice and Development Party." Today's opening calls it only "a Turkish Free-to-air nationwide Islamic TV channel," and the word islamist appears nowhere in the article. A reader arriving now does not learn that the channel has documented ties to Islamist political parties, including Turkey's ruling party.

Kanal 7 ( ) is a Turkish nationwide TV channel established in 1994.1 It is an Islamic/Islamist channel with links to Islamist parties including the current Justice and Development Party . It has a terrestrial broadcast licence and is available throughout Turkey, as well as via satellite.2 From 1995 to 1997 Ayşe Önal hosted a discussion show Minefield on Kanal 7 which brought together Jews, Armenians and Turks five days a week in a way not previously seen on Turkish television.
