Al-Arkam School

Al-Arkam school in Gaza City, founded by Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, was partially destroyed by an Israeli airstrike in September 2005. Earlier snapshots said the strike came "in retaliation for rocket attacks launched by Palestinian militants." Today's opening states only that Israel carried out the airstrike, with no mention of the rocket attacks that preceded it, and the word does not appear anywhere in the article. A reader today does not learn that the Israeli strike was described as retaliation for Palestinian militant rocket attacks.
