Judea and Samaria Division

The Judea and Samaria Division is the IDF regional command responsible for the West Bank. The 2010 opening described its mission as fighting Palestinian political violence 'as well as against attempts by Palestinian militants to infiltrate Israel to commit suicide attacks.' Today's opening drops that mission description entirely, saying only that the division is 'responsible for Israeli military activity in the Judea and Samaria Area,' and cites a 2023 story about the division head addressing settler violence. A reader today does not learn that the division's stated purpose was stopping suicide-bombing infiltrations.
