David Joshua Azrieli , C.M., C.Q., B.A., M.Arch., LL.D., (born May 10 , 1922 ) is a Canadian builder, designer, architect, developer and philanthropist . Born in Makow, Poland , he fled Europe during World War II for Palestine . He studied architecture at the Technion .1 He fought in the 1948 War of Independence .2 After immigrating to Montreal in 1954 he established Canpro Investments in 1958 .3 In 1984 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada . In 1999 he was made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec .4 He married Stephanie and has four children: Rafi, Sharon, Naomi and Danna.5
